01 — Origins

A young, growing community.

Established in September 2025 by Nick Afanasiev, The Fellowship of Science is a growing non-theistic religious community whose members are called Fellows.

Fellows are equal members of the community, united by a shared appreciation for science, evidence, learning, ethical growth, and the ongoing effort to help reasoning beings thrive.

02 — What we offer

The Functions of Religion, Without the Supernatural

Like many religions, The Fellowship of Science offers a place to belong, moral guidance, rituals, stories, symbols, shared practices, and a framework for meaning and purpose.

Unlike religions based on supernatural authority, our teachings are not treated as fixed, infallible, or beyond revision. They remain open to correction, refinement, and improvement when strong contrary evidence appears or when there is good reason to change them.

03 — Accountability

Nothing is Beyond Honest Questioning.

Fellows are expected to have reverence for science and evidence, but no individual, institution, tradition, text, symbol, ritual, or belief is treated as exempt from accountability, correction, or revision.

Nothing in The Fellowship of Science is considered beyond honest questioning. Nothing is treated as “holy” in the sense of being immune to criticism, evidence, or ethical scrutiny.

04 — Belief

No supernatural belief required.

There is no requirement to believe in anything supernatural to become a Fellow. Belief in deities, souls, spirits, sacred revelations, miracles, afterlives, or supernatural forces is not required.

The Fellowship of Science is for those who want community, meaning, purpose, ethical direction, and shared practices grounded in the best available understanding of reality rather than in supernatural claims.

05 — The Book of Science

Our Foundational and Guiding Text.

The Book of Science is expected to be published around September 2026.

It explains our Guiding Principles, traditions, rituals and practices, and much more in greater depth.

Motto

Sapientior esto

Be wiser.

The Fellowship of Science is still young and growing. We welcome those who value science, reasoning, curiosity, kindness, compassion, intellectual honesty, and the possibility of building a wiser form of community together.
